TAIPEI, [DATE TBC] — The Broadway hit, now captivating audiences around the world, MJ THE MICHAEL JACKSON MUSICAL will make its Taiwan debut at Taipei Music Center from April 2027 for a strictly limited season. Taiwan presenter HUA Universal Arts Entertainment today announced ticket prices and first-wave on-sale details. Tickets are priced from NT$1,580 to NT$6,980, with the first wave going on sale at 12:00 noon on 8 November.

Presented by original Broadway producers Lia Vollack and John Branca, alongside Michael Cassel and HUA Universal Arts Entertainment, the International Asia Tour of MJ THE MICHAEL JACKSON MUSICAL will open in Tokyo before travelling to Taipei as its second stop, followed by Singapore. Taipei is the tour’s only stop in Taiwan and marks the first time this global phenomenon will be seen by Taiwanese audiences.

Featuring more than 25 of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, including Beat It, Smooth Criminal, Man in the Mirror and Thriller, MJ has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences around the world through its iconic music, groundbreaking choreography and spectacular staging.

STEP INSIDE THE CREATION OF THE 1992 DANGEROUS WORLD TOUR

Set in 1992, MJ takes audiences inside the rehearsal room as Michael Jackson prepares for his Dangerous World Tour. Seen through the eyes of an MTV journalist granted rare access, the musical goes beyond the signature moves and global hits to reveal Jackson’s uncompromising creative vision and the collaborative process that transformed his ideas into a world-changing stage production. The book is by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage.

SEEN BY MORE THAN 8 MILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE AND WINNER OF FOUR TONY AWARDS

Since opening on Broadway, MJ has been seen by more than 8 million people worldwide and has won four Tony Awards, including Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical (Myles Frost), Best Choreography (Christopher Wheeldon OBE), Best Lighting Design (Natasha Katz) and Best Sound Design (Gareth Owen). Director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon OBE also received the Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer for the West End production.

AN INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED CREATIVE TEAM

MJ features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and direction and choreography by Tony and Olivier Award winner Christopher Wheeldon OBE (An American in Paris). The creative team also includes scenic design by Derek McLane (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), lighting design by Natasha Katz (Aida, An American in Paris, Once), costume design by Paul Tazewell (Hamilton, Wicked the film adaptation), sound design by Gareth Owen (Come From Away), projection design by Peter Nigrini (Dear Evan Hansen), hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe (The Color Purple), and make-up design by Joe Dulude II (Death Becomes Her). Musical supervision is by David Holcenberg (Matilda the Musical, Groundhog Day, Mamma Mia!), with orchestrations and arrangements by David Holcenberg and Jason Michael Webb (The Color Purple).
